There has been Boxing in the Felbridge and East Grinstead Area; as far back as the 1800. A number of significant prize fights took place in Copthorne Common in the early 19th century. One was the English championship in 1810, between Tom Cribb and Tom Molineux which lasted an Incredible 35 Rounds and was cheered on by thousands !
Fast forward 200 years and there is little known about any boxing in the Town since then although there have been Clubs . The Felbridge Hotel and Effingham Park Hotel are still used for Boxing shows, so there is clearly an appetite in the area.
In 2009 after the opening of The Juggernauts Gym By East Grinstead local Kevin Sheridan and Andrew Sibley , Former New Addington Boxing Coaches Chris Stone and John Warren were approached to set up a boxing Club within Juggernaughts .
Since then the Club has gone from strength to strength with East Grinstead boxers representing the Town at local ,Regional and National Competitions. Two years ago the club moved all of 10 yds ,after an invitation from another local Sam Levett to its New home at the TGM Gym in Imberhorne Way .The club has active Junior and Senior Boxing Groups , The club now has 5 ABA Coaches all fully trained who will assess and help anyone that wishes to take part in ‘The Noble Art “
